Disclosure and Consent
We do not support or condone the use of our products and services for covert or undisclosed tracking, as we believe this is a violation of trust and an invasion of privacy. It is also illegal in Australia and many jurisdictions to track anyone without their consent. We always promote the responsible disclosure of the use of GPS tracking services and it is against our Terms and Conditions to track anyone without their consent.
All of our users must inform and obtain clear consent from anyone whose location will be tracked using Track My Ride. Whether you are a parent wanting to keep tabs on your child’s whereabouts, a business owner managing a fleet of vehicles, or using our services for any other legitimate purpose, disclosure and consent are essential.
In-App Tracking Indicator
To further promote transparency, when mobile tracking is in enabled our mobile app includes a prominent indicator that is always visible when the app is actively recording location data on an iPhone or Android smartphone. This ensures that there is no confusion about when tracking is occurring.
The indicator appears in the following locations:
- iPhone: The indicator is displayed in the status bar at the top of the screen when mobile tracking is active.
- Android: The indicator is displayed in the notification bar at the top of the screen, and in the notification tray when mobile tracking is active.
Display a Notice in Your Vehicle
If you’re using our Hardware GPS trackers, we include a sticker in the box that you can use to notify the driver that the vehicle has been fitted with GPS tracking. If a TMR hardware GPS tracker has been fitted to the vehicle, you should install the sticker in a prominent location inside the vehicle where the driver can see it.
Schedule Mobile Tracking On / Off Automatically
If you don’t need to use mobile tracking 24/7, you can easily create a tracking schedule. With our mobile tracking schedule system, you can setup the times of the day when mobile tracking is scheduled to turn on and off automatically. You can edit the tracking schedule on a per driver/phone basis and the configured schedule will be shown in the mobile app too.
