Satellite GPS tracking with Track My Ride is incredibly accurate, with positions typically accurate to within 2 metres. You can even tell what side of the road you were driving or walking on.

For mobile phone tracking, we target recording a new location every 10 metres of movement. This target scales up automatically as you increase in speed, such as highway traveling to reduce power consumption on your mobile phone.

For hardware trackers, we target recording a new location based on a sophisticated algorithm designed to ensure accurate paths are recorded as the vehicle drives. In the real world though, this equates to a new point being recorded every 10-20 seconds on average.

We've designed TMR to be a high frequency tracking platform, to ensure you have all the tracking data recorded frequently, accurately and clearly including speed, location, time and more available at your fingertips.

Yes, our GPS tracking system allows you to set up custom alerts and notifications based on your specific needs. You can configure alerts for events such as speeding, geofence breaches, unexpected movement, or unauthorised usage. Notifications can be sent via email, SMS, or through our mobile app, ensuring that you stay informed about important events in real-time.

Our GPS tracking system offers valuable features to simplify fleet maintenance. You can track vehicle mileage and set up maintenance reminders based on time or distance traveled. By proactively managing maintenance tasks, you can reduce vehicle downtime, extend the lifespan of your assets, and optimise your fleet's overall performance.

Absolutely! Our GPS tracking system is designed to scale seamlessly with your business. Whether you start with a small fleet and expand over time or have a large fleet from the outset, our system can accommodate your growth. You can easily add new devices, vehicles, and users to your account as your business evolves, ensuring that our solution continues to meet your changing needs.

We have customers with over 1000 tracked team members and vehicles on their accounts, rest assured we're well prepared to help you grow.

Privacy questions:

Questions about privacy and how TMR keeps your data secure.

We store all our user data within Australia, on our own private servers. Our servers are located in Sydney, hosted on Microsoft Azure infrastructure. Unlike many of our competitors, we're proud to say we designed and wrote all our own software in house. This ensures we control 100% of our underlying platform and the flow of data. We do not use white-labeled software passed off as our own.

You can check our server uptime by visiting https://status.trackmyride.com.au

Absolutely not! Unlike many of our competitors, we have never sold our customer's private tracking data to marketing and insurance companies. Your data is stored securely on our own private servers hosted in Sydney Australia on Microsoft Azure infrastructure.

You can review our Privacy Policy as well at any time.

No! We always advocate responsible tracking. It's against our Terms and Conditions to track anyone without their consent and it is illegal in most jurisdictions to do so.

Our mobile tracking app has been designed to display an indicator in the system tray when tracking is active in the background.

Mobile tracking:

Mobile tracking allows you to use your mobile phone as a GPS tracking device. By installing our App on your iPhone or Android smartphone, you can record and share your real-time location, enabling you to track your own movements or share your location with others.

You can track multiple phones on your account and view their current location as well as their historic paths on the map.

No, you do not need to buy a hardware tracker to use the mobile tracking service. Our two products operate independently from each other. While they both provide GPS tracking, they serve different purposes. For some people, mobile tracking isn't suitable for their tracking needs. This is why our dedicated hardware tracker is available too.

To use Track My Ride mobile tracking, you only need a compatible Android or iPhone.

Setting up mobile tracking is easy. Simply download our mobile tracking app from the App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play Store (for Android devices). Once installed, log in using your account credentials (Or register for a free trial), grant the necessary permissions for location access, and your phone will start acting as a GPS tracker.

The app will automatically go to sleep when you're stationary, ensuring your precious phone battery is conserved.

Absolutely! Our mobile tracking solution allows you to track multiple phones simultaneously from a single account. You can easily add and manage an unlimited number of mobile devices, making it perfect for businesses with sales teams, delivery drivers, or remote employees.

To track multiple phones, simply install our mobile tracking app on each device and log in using your account credentials. You can then view the real-time location of all connected phones on a single map interface, making it easy to monitor and manage multiple devices at once. Our platform also allows you to set up custom alerts, geofences, and reporting for each individual device, giving you complete control and flexibility over your mobile tracking setup.

Whether you need to track a small group or a large fleet of mobile devices, our solution scales seamlessly to meet your needs, providing a cost-effective and efficient way to stay connected and informed.

No, you don't need a special phone or mobile plan. Our mobile tracking app works on most modern smartphones running iOS or Android operating systems. However, you will need a mobile data plan or Wi-Fi connection to enable real-time location tracking and data syncing with our system.

Mobile tracking does consume some battery power, as it uses your phone's GPS and mobile data to transmit location information. However, our app is optimised to minimise battery consumption. You can also adjust the tracking frequency settings within the app to find the right balance between tracking accuracy and battery life.

The biggest source of power drain on a mobile phone is the upload frequency, sending the recorded points back to our servers. You can adjust this value in the TMR app for each mobile tracked phone individually. The default upload interval is set to 200 points, or when stopped for 10 minutes.

The more frequent the upload interval, the more real-time your tracking data will be, at the expense of more power use on the mobile phone.

On our default settings, with a modern smart phone our users typically see about 5% battery usage per hour they were continuously moving.

When you are stationary longer than 10 minutes, the tracking is paused and does not use any battery power. You can also setup a schedule of hours of operation if you only need tracking to start during certain hours of the day.

Yes, we take data security and privacy very seriously. All location data transmitted through our mobile tracking app is encrypted and stored securely on our servers. We adhere to strict data protection protocols and industry standards to ensure that your information remains confidential and is only accessible to yourself and authorised users within your account.

Mobile tracking can be used for various purposes, including employee monitoring and family safety. However, it's crucial to obtain explicit consent from the individuals being tracked and ensure compliance with local laws and regulations regarding privacy and data protection. We recommend consulting with legal professionals to ensure the appropriate use of mobile tracking in your specific context.

We do not support or condone covert tracking, and it is against our Terms and Conditions of service.

If you lose your phone or switch to a new device, simply install the mobile tracking app on your new phone and log in using your account credentials. Your tracking settings and history will be synced automatically, allowing you to continue tracking without interruption. If your lost phone is still connected to the internet, you can also use our web application to locate it remotely.

Mobile tracking relies on mobile data or Wi-Fi connectivity to transmit your recorded locations back to our servers so it can be displayed in your account on the map.

In areas with poor mobile coverage, the tracking updates may be less frequent but the recorded location accuracy will be unaffected. Our app is designed to store location data locally on the phone when a connection is unavailable and sync it with our system automatically once a connection is restored.

No, there are no fees associated with updating your mobile number or mobile service provider for your mobile tracking subscription.

Yes, our mobile tracking service is designed to work seamlessly even when you travel abroad. As long as your mobile device has an active data connection, either through a local SIM card or an international roaming plan, Track My Ride will continue to monitor and report your location. However, please be aware that international data roaming charges may apply, depending on your mobile service provider and the countries you visit. To avoid unexpected charges, we recommend checking with your mobile carrier about their international data plans before traveling. Rest assured that Track My Ride will keep working to provide you with reliable location tracking wherever your travels take you.

Hardware tracking:

A hardware tracker is a physical device that is installed in a vehicle to monitor its location and movement. It uses GPS technology to determine the vehicle's position and transmits this data to our tracking platform via mobile networks, allowing you to access real-time location information and historical tracking data through our web and mobile applications.

You can learn more about Track My Ride hardware trackers in our guide to hardware trackers.

Our latest generation hardware tracker is the TMR-S8, it is a 4G GPS tracker that roams across the Telstra, Optus and Vodafone 4G networks and tracks your vehicle shown on the map in your account in real-time as you move around.

It can be installed plug-n-play using the included OBD-II power cable, or hardwired for a more permanent and secure installation.

The TMR-S8 features internal backup battery, motion sensor, 2x inputs, 2x outputs, internal high gain antennas among other features. You can learn more about the tech specifications in our shop listing.

It is available to purchase from our online shop or by calling our team on 1300 553 022 or emailing [email protected]

No, the Track My Ride TMR-S8 hardware tracker does not have an internal speaker or buzzer, so it does not make any noise during its operation.

Unfortunately not. So we can ensure our customers always receive a highly reliable and quality service, our platform is designed to work exclusively with our Track My Ride brand hardware trackers, available from our online shop.

While there are many GPS tracking devices available online or from international suppliers, these devices are not compatible with our systems. We design and develop all our own software in house to ensure the highest levels of reliability, accuracy, and security for our customers. Pairing TMR hardware with TMR software is the best way we can ensure a seamless experience for our users.

By using Track My Ride brand GPS tracking hardware, you can be confident that you are receiving the best possible experience, with accurate real-time data, robust features, security considerations and a dedicated support team ready to assist you every step of the way.

Our hardware trackers are versatile and can be used to track a wide range of vehicles, including cars, trucks, vans, buses, and even construction equipment. They support both 12V and 24V vehicles. The compact size and durable design of our trackers make them suitable for various vehicle types and applications.

Installing our hardware trackers is a straightforward process. The device can be easily plugged into your vehicle's OBD-II port, which is usually located under the dashboard. Alternatively, the tracker can be hardwired to the vehicle's battery for a more permanent and secure installation.

With highly sensitive internal GPS antennas, our trackers can be discreetly installed under your vehicle's dashboard for a secure, out-of-sight setup. However, since every vehicle is unique and metal can interfere with GPS signals, it's crucial to test your desired installation spot to ensure optimal tracker performance.

For instructions, please see our hardware tracker installation guide.

Our hardware trackers provide a wealth of data to help you monitor and manage your vehicles effectively. You can access real-time location information, historical trip and path data, speed alerts, geofence breaches, mileage reports, stationary time, and much more.

Our hardware trackers utilise advanced GPS technology to provide highly accurate location data. Under optimal conditions, the location accuracy will be within 2 metres. However, factors such as GPS signal strength, weather conditions, and surrounding structures may affect the accuracy to some extent. Generally speaking though, they are incredibly accurate.

Our hardware trackers are designed to be powered directly by your vehicle's battery, ensuring uninterrupted tracking as long as the vehicle is operational. This means you don't need to worry about replacing or recharging the tracker's battery. However, we've also equipped our trackers with a small internal backup battery (TMR-S8 has a 170mAh Lithium Ion battery). In the event that the tracker's main power supply is disconnected, this backup battery will keep the device running for approximately 1 to 2 hours, allowing it to send alerts to notify you that it has lost its power source and continue tracking during this time.

This feature provides an added layer of security, notifying you if the tracker's primary power source is tampered with or disconnected.

Yes, both our hardware and mobile tracking solutions allow you to configure custom alerts and notifications based on your specific requirements. You can set up alerts for events such as speeding, unauthorised vehicle use, maintenance reminders, and much more. Notifications can be sent via email, SMS, or through our mobile app, keeping you informed about important events in real-time.

We prioritise data security and privacy in our mobile and hardware tracking solutions. All data transmitted by our hardware and mobile trackers is encrypted using industry-standard protocols to protect it from unauthorised access. We follow strict data protection guidelines and comply with relevant regulations to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of your tracking data.

Yes! Simply unplug the tracker in the original vehicle and relocate it to the new vehicle. You can then rename the vehicle in your account to match the new vehicle's details.

Our pricing is based on the type and number of licences you need, with one licence required for each mobile phone or hardware tracker you want to monitor. We offer two flexible plans to meet your specific needs and budget

  1. Lite Plan: Our Lite plan is perfect for individuals or small businesses with basic tracking needs. This plan costs $7.50 per mobile tracking licence, or $15 per hardware tracking licence, per month, and includes access to our core tracking features such as real-time location updates, geofencing, alerts and trip history. Find more details and plan specifics on our pricing page.
  2. Fleet Metrics Plan: For businesses with more advanced requirements, our Fleet Metrics plan offers a comprehensive suite of tools to optimise your business operations. This plan costs $15 per mobile tracking licence, or $30 per hardware tracking licence, per month and includes all the features of the Lite plan plus additional power user functions like business reports, fuel consumption tracking, maintenance reminders, comprehensive alerts, tax logbooks and more. Find more details and plan specifics on our pricing page.

Bonus: As a bonus for our users with hardware trackers, each active Hardware licence on your account includes one complimentary mobile tracking licence.

Each active Hardware tracker will require a Hardware tracking licence, while each active tracked mobile phone will require a mobile tracking licence. These two licence types are priced differently.

Both plans offer the flexibility to add or remove licences as your needs change, ensuring you only pay for what you use. There are no long-term contracts or hidden fees, and you can easily upgrade or downgrade your plan.

To determine your monthly cost, simply multiply the number of licences you need by the price per licence for your chosen plan and the type of licence you require (hardware licence, or mobile licence). For example, if you need to track 10 mobile phones on the Fleet Metrics plan, your monthly cost would be $150 (10 mobile tracking licences x $15 per licence).

If you have any questions about our pricing or need help choosing the right plan for your business, please don't hesitate to contact our sales team for personalised assistance.

No, it is not possible to have devices on different plans within the same account. Your Track My Ride account can monitor both mobile phones and hardware trackers, but all devices must be on the same plan – either the Lite plan or the Fleet Metrics plan. You can choose the plan that best suits your needs, but you cannot split your devices across multiple plans. If you need to change your plan, all devices associated with your account will be switched to the new plan.
